I’ll have to admit that Myanmar was a bumpy road. I went from ‘I want to leave this country immediately’ to ‘wow, that was quite an adventure, I am happy I did it!’. So if anyone would ask me whether they should go to Myanmar, I would say ‘for sure’. However that being said, as with any other country in the world, please be open minded. Myanmar is still so untouched by tourism and can be quite overwhelming! On the other hand, it means that you’ll get to experience ‘the real culture’ not ‘let’s drink f**king strong buckets and pretend we are exploring Thailand’ kind of culture.
So this was my 10 day itinerary and its highlights. Feel free to copy it! This could easily be done in 10 days if you are travelling during the day or it could be squeezed into a week if you are taking night buses.
Honestly, if you are considering island hopping in Thailand and are disregarding this little island next to the Malaysian border then you are missing out BIG TIME. I spent three weeks hopping around the islands and Koh Lipe was the first island I visited and funnily enough, it set such high standards that none of the other islands managed to beat it. Koh Lipe had everything I love in life and even more, so if you are in Thailand do yourself a favour and spend AT LEAST a couple of days there. Why?
I will have to admit that Cameron Highlands was probably the highlight of the three weeks I spent in Malaysia. I always thought I am a city girl, however the older I get the more I start appreciating the nature and all its beauty. Cameron Highlands definitely blew my mind and if you get a chance to stop there, make sure you do the following.
Kuala Lumpur – home of the famous Petronas Twin Towers. Some love this city, some hate it. If you are starting your SE Asia trip in Singapore and then travelling to KL, be prepared to ‘step back in time by at least 20 years’ (these are not my words but the tourist guide’s from KL Tourist centre).
In theory, KL has loads to offer and I personally extended my stay there, simply because I kept giving the city second chances to impress me. I knew that there must be so much more to do in KL than just see the Petronas Towers!
If you’re like me and you think that chocolate, beer and waffles are the best things in the world then you should go to Brussels.
Seriously, like now!
